The WHAS Crusade for Children makes life better for children with special needs by inspiring generosity with our community partners. The Crusade is an annual celebration culminating in a telethon that is hosted by WHAS11 television and 84WHAS radio. It is the longest and most successful single station telethon in the country. The Crusade raises money through corporate donations, employee payroll deduction campaigns, efforts of firefighters collecting and putting on fund raisers year round, clubs, churches, scout troops, and many more. It is a total community volunteer effort. The money collected stays in Kentuckiana helping children with special needs. Our vision is that together, we can provide resources to impact all children with special needs.

Washburn Center for Children nurtures every child and family's well-being and full potential through transformative children's mental health care.With the vast COVid-19 impacts, families are more isolated, struggling with job loss and economic stressors, and deeply affected by the pervasive anxiety that we are all experiencing. Our team moved rapidly to ensure we would continue to support the health and well-being of our staff and the children and families who they serve. In mid-March, we suspended face-to-face sessions at our sites and transitioned to phone-based and teletherapy for all services. We have capacity for new children and families who need stabilizing therapeutic services because of intensified stress, anxiety and depression.
