- $10 per paycheck can provide 1 much needed wheelchair ramp for access to their homes.
- $25 per paycheck can provide 1 generator ensuring safety for people with ALS who rely on ventilators and other electrical equipment for daily living.
- $50 per paycheck can provide 1 reclining wheelchair with leg rests for a client.
- $100 per paycheck can provide 1 electric hoyer lift allowing caregivers to transfer people living with ALS safely and securely .

Our Impact

Juan and Susana’s story is one example of the difference your gift makes possible. Juan was diagnosed with ALS three years ago. Prior to being diagnosed with ALS, Juan was a truck driver and mechanic for nearly 30 years. Now Juan is confined to a wheelchair with no movement in his hands. Susana, his wife of 29 years, is his full-time caregiver. “This is a devastating illness.” Susana shares, “It also affects me and the kids, especially because they don’t understand what’s going on. And they keep suffering.” Despite everything, this family’s “never give up” spirit led Juan and Susana to connect with the Golden West Chapter and participate in the Walk to Defeat ALS. Juan shares, “We are so grateful for our incredible care manager and all of the support we receive from the Golden West Chapter. It means so much to us to be a part of the ALS community through the Walk to Defeat ALS.” Your gift makes possible everything the Chapter does in support of the ALS community related to care services, research, and advocacy. It is only together that we will defeat ALS.
