• Is this too good to be true? How can you afford to cover the credit card fees?

  We know it may seem impossible, but it’s not! Our entire business model is based on the generosity of donors - when donors like the free service that we provide, they can leave an optional tip to cover our operational costs. Over the last few years, mission-driven individuals, companies, and nonprofits around the world have trusted Pledge to be their fundraising platform of choice and this has enabled us the opportunity to pay the credit card fees on our own.

• How much of the donation will the nonprofit receive?

  Over 98% of donations processed by Pledge are under $1,000, which means that on average, the nonprofit is going to receive 100% of the funds raised through a Pledge fundraiser, minus a $5 fee to cover the cost of disbursing funds. For any donations over $1,000, the nonprofit will receive the donation minus credit card fees of 2.9% + $0.30.

• Why are you doing this?

  Pledge’s mission is to power the world’s generosity, and to achieve our mission we need to do everything possible to make fundraising accessible to everyone and deliver the most impact to nonprofits and communities everywhere. As a mission-driven social enterprise, we put purpose before profit and believe that this is one of the biggest and most important contributions that we can make as a company.

• Are you really the first?

  Yes, we’re literally the first fundraising platform in the world to do this! We have a history of innovation, from launching Apple Pay for nonprofits, to the first Donate button on Zoom, to now the first platform to cover credit card fees for donations made to nonprofits.

• Are there any fees associated with Pledge?

  If your campaign was created on Pledge’s platform using a fundraiser page or a donation form and has tipping enabled, Pledge will cover fees on donations of $1,000 or less. Nonprofits incur a $5 fee for payouts at the beginning of each month they receive a disbursement.
  *Note: A no-tip, fixed fee option for our campaigns is availbale during setup.

  Pledge also partners with a variety of other platforms and when making donations via their payment methods a different fee is applied as outlined below:

  • DAFpay: 2.9%
  • Cryptocurrency: 3%
  • DonateStock: 3%

• How does Pledge ensure trust and safety with donations?

  We take extensive precautions to ensure trust and safety in the use of our platform. This includes nonprofit verification, data encryption, fraud review, tax documentation, and much more. Please review our Trust & Safety policy for more details.

• Does this include existing fundraisers?

  This includes any fundraisers created on or after Tuesday, October 18th, 2022. If you have a fundraiser created before then & would like to have your credit card fees covered, please chat with a member of our support team, available 6am-6pm PST, M-F.
