Find homes to adopt more than 200 cats per year and rehabilitation of stray and feral cats
1. We rescue and place in our foster care network, as many cats and kittens from High-Kill Shelters as possible, to spare them from being euthanized. This not only makes room for more animals at each shelter; it also reduces the stress on animal care workers who would have been charged to euthanize these cats. We also take cats from at-risk situations living outdoors. In addition, each foster cat or kitten in our program is available for adoption after a full wellness exam and any other vet care they require regardless of the cost or time involved. We carefully screen applicants to ensure these animals are never at risk for being in a shelter or on the streets again.2. While adoption and creating effective tools for increasing adoptions are a key part of our strategy, reduction of pet overpopulation is the other side of the coin. There simply are not enough homes for all the un-homed cats and dogs in the United States. In order to reduce euthanasia rates, we must act to curb overpopulation. Often, legislation is needed to enforce sustainable spay/neuter policies. We provide support for these policies and encourage legislative initiatives that help solve this worldwide problem: position papers, fund drives, polling, direct mail and email communications, case studies, etc.3. We educate the public about appropriate feline nutrition and support their concerns with our cat behavior counseling hotline. Our goal is to help keep cats in their home when cat behavior issues put their future at risk.
