We are dedicated to transitioning retired racehorses into second careers and placing them in the right home. We are based in Central Indiana and have facilities in both Indiana and Ohio. Established in 2005, FFI took its name from famed racehorse Ferdinand who earned four million dollars on the track and won the KY Derby, but was ultimately led to slaughter. Our mission is very clear - To promote equine welfare by providing chances for second careers to retiring racehorses in Indiana, Ohio and throughout the Midwest. We believe that it is a shame that retired racehorses who are sound, have the potential to be sound, have good minds and have options for a second career should face an uncertain future.

Forget Me Not Animal Rescue is a non-profit, all volunteer organization that believes all animals deserve a forever loving home. It is our mission to protect and improve the lives of abused, abandoned, and homeless animals. We work tirelessly to save and rehabilitate both physically and mentally abused animals. Every animal is given as much time and care as needed. We strive to help and educate the public on the importance of pet sterilization, responsible pet ownership, and the humane treatment of all these wonderful animals”. We accept owner surrenders at our own discretion.

Healing Paws for Warriors is a veteran founded / veteran led 501(c)(3) that provides rescue-to trained ADA certified service dogs to veterans faced with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Military Sexual Trauma (MST) at “no cost” to the veteran with continued support. Our team is comprised of a combat medical war veteran, practicing PTSD therapist, professional service dog trainer, a veterinarian, and many other supportive volunteers. Our dogs come only from local rescues. Our service dog trainer teaches the dogs and the veterans as a team. The dogs are not pets, they are service dogs with the complete protection and rights granted by the American with Disabilities Act. We are devoted to pairing and training service dogs with veterans at NO C

Shadow’s Fund is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to helping the most vulnerable shelter dogs. Senior dogs, dogs labelled as “pit bulls” and dogs with a treatable injury or illness are often passed over for adoption. We help these forgotten dogs find hope and 2nd chances. Our 3 core programs tackle the problem from every angle. Bright Beginnings is aimed at early intervention and prevention. The Take Me Home Project provides direct rescue and rehoming for shelter dogs. And, for those dogs that need a little extra help, the Sheltering Oak Sanctuary provides a safety net and safe haven. Whether out in the community, or at the sanctuary, Shadow’s Fund is always working to promote responsible and humane animal stewardship.

Tails of Valor®, Paws of Honor, Inc (TOV) was established in 2014 with a mission to provide rehabilitation through non-medicinal therapies. Our animal assisted therapy rehabilitation programs provide social interactions and human/canine bonding resulting in service dogs able to assist with the physical and psychological issues affecting our Veterans and their families. Our canines can enhance a therapeutic environment which will reduce friction caused when experiencing social activities, thus leading to increased communication and focus. Our staff provides support needed for positive physical and mental health social interactions during training sessions with our canines, all of who are named in honor of a fallen soldier. Support for Veteran and canine are life long.

We match those in our county who need help, whether citizens, businesses, government entities, or other nonprofits, with volunteers to work on the help needed. We are not a social services agency, and the scope of the work needed has to fall within the guidelines set for our volunteer program. Some types of work needed by citizens are outside of the scope of our work, and we help these citizens find an agency where the client needs to qualify to receive help needed.We will offer our volunteers the opportunity to upload hours served on time sheets, for completed work, to be translated into points. These points can be accumulated and will be redeemable in the form of gifts, just like the Fetch program used for vendor receipt uploads. This program is currently being developed. Our purpose is to undertake rescue operations and to provide essential care for orphaned, stray, abused and special needs cats and dogs.Through rehabilitation, socialization, and adoption, we endeavor to provide a humane service to all animals that come into our care. Additionally, we generate awareness about the prevention of animal abuse and neglect as well as spay/neuter programs and their important effect on the dog and cat overpopulation crisis.Through the years our mission has evolved from just rescue and adoption to community service and educational programs to improve the quality of life to all of the NYC boroughs and Long Island.

The Oasis Sanctuary is a Rescue and Retirement facility for exotic birds, predominantly CITES I and II endangered birds. We offer birds a stable and loving home for the duration of their natural lives. We do not sell or breed birds. We do not offer birds for adoption. Many of The Oasis birds come from other rehabilitation and/or adoption programs where qualified personnel determined it was not in the bird's best interest to be placed in private homes. Some of our birds have "special needs", are physically handicapped or challenged requiring unique living or feeding situations. Several have been bounced from home to home, often being physically and/or emotionally abused and have simply become too fearful of people to be companions any longer. A number of The Oasis birds are "retired" breeders, or other birds originally imported for production purposes, which, due to age, infirmity or temperament often would be facing euthanasia. Because many of our birds are not interested in or are incapable of human interaction, they are housed with the same or similar, compatible species in non-breeding pairs or small flocks in large outdoor flights.

Founded in 1902, the mission of the SPCA of Tompkins County is to protect companion animals. We are the first open-admission, no-kill shelter in the country dedicated to preventing animal cruelty and overpopulation. not only do we steward animals, but the environment as well. our “green” shelter, known as the Dorothy and Roy Park Pet Adoption Center, was LEED- Certified Silver in 2004—the first shelter to achieve this status in the united States. our best practices in shelter operations and programs serve as effective examples for other shelters across the country striving to achieve no-kill status. We strive to foster a community in which the need for sheltering abandoned, neglected and homeless and abused animals is diminished; and we work ceaselessly to place medically and behaviorally healthy, treatable or manageable animals in loving homes. We provide leadership in cruelty investigation initiatives, educational outreach, and pet population control. We promote responsible pet stewardship by providing behavioral issues-counseling as needed for adopted animals and their owners, as well as behavior training for shelter dogs to increase adoption rates and ultimately nurture and enhance the human-animal bond.

Seattle Dogs Homeless Program is a WA State 501c3 non-profit street outreach program and foster based dog rescue dedicated to animal welfare. Our street outreach program provides pets and their people living thru homelessness with food and supplies for both human and animal For dog owners seeking drugs/alcohol treatment or wanting to work access to free boarding. Aside from food our #1 need is vet care! Seattle Dogs has a mandatory spay and neuter policy for all animals needing vet care. We place a strong emphasis on helping to control the population and abuse from over breeding. We are also a foster based rescue for dogs that are abandoned, abused or owner surrender. Once healed, healthy, emotionally ready, their placed for adoption. We believe every pet living homelesss should have a voice, lots of love, good food and vet care. By helping people with the necessary supplies and support we empower them to feel better about themselves by meeting the needs of their pets. Seattle Dogs makes a difference 1 bag 1 paw at a time🐾

The mission of the Kindness Ranch is to provide a sanctuary and place of rehabilitation for animals who have been used in laboratory research while fostering compassion for all animals.Consistent with our mission, we work to rehabilitate our dogs and cats in a home-like environment. Cats and dogs at The Kindness Ranch live together with their human caretakers in spacious yurts specially designed to meet their needs. They receive round-the-clock care to help them adjust to their new lives.The Kindness Ranch also provides an adoption program for all the animals we can rehabilitate. Those who are too debilitated, old or ill to be placed in a loving home can remain on the ranch to live out their days, surrounded by caretakers and volunteers who put the animals’ well-being first.***Kindness Ranch IS a 501c3 non profit organization. Since 2006, The Dog Alliance has been improving the lives of families and individuals through therapeutic programs which incorporate the powerful connection between dogs and humans. Key programs include: Hounds for Heroes is the service dog program of Austin Dog Alliance. In addition to being trained to be unobtrusive in public, our service dogs are trained to mitigate the symptoms of post-traumatic stress (PTS), anxiety and or depression. Each dogs performs a minimum of three tasks that enable their partner to lead a more "normal" life. The tasks are selected after extensive conversations with the adopter. S+CORE! (Students + Canines = Opportunities for Rewarding Employment) capitalizes on the relationship between canines and adults to build job skills to provide life-long employment options for adults with disabilities. Students who complete the 86-hour program are provided job placement and coaching as they transition to paid employment. The Bow Wow Reading Dogs program teaches reading skills to at-risk readers by providing highly trained dogs and their handlers to local elementary schools, every week of the school year. Pet therapy visits in nursing homes and hospitals. Over 145 pet therapy dog handlers and their dog partners visit more than 50 hospitals, nursing homes and hospices in the Austin area. In 2015, they provided more than 6,000 hours of volunteer service visiting the elderly and sick in our community.
