Shirzanan works to expand access to sport for Muslim women and girls worldwide. We use sports and media to catalyze discussion and advancements in women's rights and gender equality. We produce and disseminate stories - particularly to populations whose governments limit free information and women's rights. Shirzanan is the Persian word for "female heroes" and an apt description of the Muslim female athletes who triumph over cultural, social and religious barriers to excel at sport. We promote them as role models who speak out and stand up against discrimination. To shape a positive narrative around Muslim females and counter stereotypes exacerbated by mainstream media, we train female journalists to cover female athletes and train female athletes as role models and advocates. We uphold the Olympic Charter's statement that "The practice of sport is a human right." Everyone deserves access to sport and its consequent health, academic, economic, social and gender equality.

Through musical expression, the San Diego Women’s Chorus encourages women’s creativity, celebrates diversity, and inspires social action. The San Diego Women’s Chorus is a non-profit community chorus that strives to entertain and inspire audiences with music that speaks to issues as diverse as human rights, love, world peace, religious freedom, environmental harmony, inclusion and cultural diversity. SDWC supports and affirms the music of women, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC composers and arrangers.

To create awareness of the plight of widows and victims of violence in India and other South Asian countries; To foster acceptance and promote the basic human rights of living with dignity; To provide compassionate care for elderly widows. We have a simple, but strong mission: to cultivate awareness of the South Asian Culture through artists, performers and story-tellers; by focusing on community-based efforts including awareness, education, advocacy and support; by supporting women at-risk and victims of domestic violence.
