THE DONKEY SANCTUARY OF CANADA

The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada provides a lifelong home to donkeys and mules that have been neglected or abused, or that can no longer be cared for by their owners. The DSC provides a program in animal welfare education to school and community groups. In addition, the DSC has developed a Foster Farm Program wherein animals are placed in pairs on permanent loan at suitable farms. The Sanctuary Farm is open to the public on Wednesdays and Sundays, 10-4, May through October.

Kinbrace Community Society

Committed to creating a world of welcome, Kinbrace actively engages people in Canada's refugee protection system by providing: Housing We transition families and singles from homelessness to regular housing. Orientation We direct newcomers through the complexities of systems and culture for purposeful integration. Accompaniment We walk with people through the vulnerability of displacement, exile and loss to strengthen resiliency. Education We inspire the Canadian public into an informed, hopeful and mobilized posture of welcome and embrace.

Cornerstone Housing for Women

Annually over 1,000 women are homeless in Ottawa - Cornerstone provides shelter for over 400 women, serves over 140,160 nutritious meals and provides supportive housing for 68 women, many of whom are seniors. In addition, in 2011 Cornerstone secured permanent housing for 154 women; 65 women were enrolled in computer training, employment preparation and life skills courses. Our services are offered in an environment which promtes dignity and hope.

CHILD HAVEN INTERNATIONAL - ACCUEIL INTERNATIONAL POUR L'ENF

Inspired by the ideals and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, Child Haven International was founded in 1985. We assist children and women in several countries, who are in need of food, education, health care, shelter and clothing, emotional and moral support.

This is accomplished through support counselling, skill development and social/recreational programs.

KANATA FOOD CUPBOARD

The Kanata Food Cupboard is a non-profit charitable organization, with any profits or assets realized from its operation being used for the sole purpose of promoting its objectives. Services are provided to all residents of the community, regardless of race, ethnicity, ability, age, sexual orientation, income or religion. The organization is non-sectarian, non-denominational, non-partisan, working for the best interests of its members and clients.

Kindred Community Farm Sanctuary (formally SALI's Farm)

SALI's Farm is a safe haven for at-risk children and rescued animals to bond, learn, and heal with one another. SALI's Farm utilizes animal-assisted and horticultural activities that help abused and neglected children heal emotionally from trauma. Abused and neglected animals are given a permanent home. Our goal is to help children and animals heal and help break the cycle of violence. SALI's Guardian Program provides for the needs of companion animals of women & children fleeing violence, isolated seniors, and people living in poverty and on the street. SALI believes that all members of our community deserve the love and support of pets, especially our most vulnerable. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for our two-legged and four-legged community members.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS ONTARIO INC.

Special Olympics Ontario provides athletes with an intellectual disability the opportunity to experience and succeed in sport. Special Olympics' athletes gain self-confidence and transfer the success from the playing field to become more active citizens in society.

The Kidney Foundation of Canada is the national volutneer organization committed to reducing the burden of kidney disease through: funding and stimulating innovative research; providing education and support; promoting access to quality healthcare; and increasing public awareness and commitment to advancing kidney health and organ donation.

Seniors Services Society of BC

Seniors Services Society offers over fifty years of combined experience serving seniors in New Westminster, across Metro Vancouver and around B.C. The society offers support programs and information for seniors in three distinct areas: Support Services for seniors living in New Westminster; Housing Services for seniors province wide; and information for seniors and service providers throughout the Metro Vancouver via our Community Education department. Annually, Seniors Services Society serves over 4,000 vulnerable and socially isolated seniors across the province.

PARKER STREET FOOD & FURNITURE BANK and THE TURKEY CLUB

PARKER STREET FOOD AND FURNITURE BANK is the working name of the Community Care Network Society. We are dedicated to assisting those in need in HRM who require help to access basic necessities such as food, furniture and education. Donations fill many needs, above all, they bring hope into the lives of families who are struggling daily, year-round. Donations allow us to not only help individuals with these basic necessities but also to help them become self-sufficient by offering training programs that translate into work opportunities. Your support also allows us to provide financial assistance in cases where families or individuals need emergency supplies such as oil for their furnace, help with a power bill, and prescription medication. "Reaching into the Community in Service and Love" THE TURKEY CLUB, founded by Jack Cruickshank in 2004, is dedicated to helping the needy at Christmas.
