IsraAID's mission is to effectively support and meet the changing needs of populations as they move from crisis to reconstruction, rehabilitation, and eventually, to sustainable living. This commitment is expressed in emergency relief and sustainable development, with an emphasis on the transition between them.
Karuna Deutschland is committed towards ending caste-based discrimination, dedicating efforts for poverty-alleviation, and ensuring equality in India and Nepal. Our mission is to serve individuals and families of the poorest communities in India and Nepal. The women and children as well as people from lower cast backgrounds come under the most vulnerable population in India and Nepal. The former "untouchable" castes are still suffering from social exclusion and violence and also form the largest chunk of 'ultra-poor' in these countries. It is extremely difficult for them to access healthcare, education, housing and a dignified livelihood. Dalit women and girls particularly are subjected to gender-based violence and exclusion. Although caste-based discrimination has no legal premises, the stigma attached to the lower castes in India and Nepal hinder their dignified participation in all spheres of life. They are pushed further behind by a variety of forces such as existing discrimination, inequality, poverty, illiteracy etc. Therefore, we endeavour to remove the root causes of discrimination, exclusion and poverty. We seek to run our projects and activities based on the principle of inclusion, justice, diversity and equality in order to drive a positive as well as holistic change at the community level. The foundation of our work lies in engendering a dignified life for the people; helping them build a better future for themselves as well as empowering them to take their destiny into their own hands. To elicit lasting solutions to the problems we intend to address, our approach is based upon self-help, self-determination and self-reliance at the community level. The principle of 'leaving no one behind' as mentioned in the Sustainable development goals is enshrined in our core values. Changes often happen at the local level. Creative and innovative solutions are pertinent to reach our goals. Our activities are thus built upon a wealth of local skills and knowledge. We seek to understand the vulnerabilities, strengths and needs of our target groups. Evidence based approach rooted in in-depth analysis, research of ground needs and realities is extremely important for us to promote accountability and responsibility. The four pillars of Karuna Deutschland's work are made of Education, Health, Dignified Livelihoods and Gender Equality. These four pillars are the key focus areas of the work carried out by Karuna Deutschland in India and Nepal. More information about Karuna Deutschland's activities can be found on our website.

"Making children strong for life!" This slogan neatly sums up how "Die Arche" reaches out to support socially disadvantaged children and young people at support centres across Germany. Every day, the children we support enjoy a free lunch, get help with their homework and have a chance to participate in meaningful after-school activities. We also offer their parents assistance and advice as a way of helping entire families to get to grips with their day-to-day lives. At "Die Arche", we give children the space they need to discover their potential. We nurture their talent, give them opportunities, and encourage and facilitate educational achievement.

Children, particularly in difficult life situations, need a constant companion, which they can confide in and who supports them. This is what "PaSch" (mentees for pupils) stands up for. What is that project about? The mentoring-project "PaSch" is part of the community center "NachbarschaftsEtage - Fabrik Osloer Str. e.V." and arranges the matching of an adult volunteer with a child in need in the neighborhood. We try to build up relationships between mentor and mentee for at least one year, but usually they develop a long-standing friendship. PaSch is a rather small mentoring-project. At the moment, we count 17 so-called "Tandems" (mentor and mentee). Mentors are committed adult volunteers, who want to support the educational opportunities of the pre- and elementary school students in the neighborhood and spend time with and attention to the children. Mentor and mentee meet once a week to engage in joint recreational activities to get to know the city, visiting cultural and sportive attractions as well as they do homework, read, write and practice German. But the best and utmost important thing for the mentees is to have a person, a mentor by his side to talk to, whom to trust and to have fun with. To allow as many of these voluntary activities, we reimburse the expenses, for example the entrance to the Zoo or a museum.

The "Verein fur krebskranke Kinderharz" (Association for children with cancer) is to become a central point of contact for affected parents or relatives of children with cancer in Germany. When a child is diagnosed with a cancer, the diagnosis is probably the worst bad news that can be given to parents and relatives. The following time to live is hardly conceivable, the diagnosis of cancer is a task that seems hardly solvable. Life, as it was yesterday, is no more, it changes so much, seemingly almost everything! Many people are concerned only with the disease, which has been around for many centuries. We, as an association, want to make this time a little easier until the children are rehabilitated, support the affected persons in administrative matters, provide advice in matters of schools, hospitals, clinics and self-help. In addition, we want to focus more on the issue of cancer in children, to help educate and support the research. We want to help the children with donations, help them to make cancer research, promote typing measures, and support the children's clinics in our region, in order to participate in the small cancer patients there too, because the large centers in Halle, Braunschweig, Magdeburg, Gottingen and Hannover are already a bit away and some "small" examination or medication can then also be done on site and the way home is then more tolerable and for everybody more comfortable. This great organization supports families with children with cancer. The latest project gives these families the opportunity to recharge their batteries.Located on a wonderful lake, this organization has restored vacation apartments. These apartments can then be used by families with special needs. Now additional land has to be bought to build more vacation homes on it. The price for this property is 25,000. Nearby there are also suitable medical facilities, which make a longer stay possible.
