Women Win's vision is that of a world in which every adolescent girl and young woman fully exercises her rights. Our mission is to advance the playing field that empowers girls through sport and play. Women Win is the global leader in girls and women's empowerment through sport. We leverage the power of play to help adolescent girls and young women build leadership skills and become better equipped to exercise their rights. Since 2007, we have impacted the lives of 2,822,400 adolescent girls and young women directly and indirectly in over 100 countries. This is possible thanks to collaborations with a wide variety of grassroots women's organisations, companies, development organisations, sports bodies and government agencies. Women Win currently supports initiatives in Asia, Africa, Middle East, North and South America. Our work is focused on empowering girls and young women through sport, emphasising the prevention of gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and economic empowerment. In practice this involves developing high quality specialised tools and curricula; delivering training and capacity building workshops; monitoring and evaluation tools and systems development; and providing strategic and programmatic support. Women Win invests in and manages a diverse portfolio of global partners with approximately 1.5 million euros of direct funding granted annually.
Each year, the Lung Association invests heavily in Canadian respiratory health research. Recently, the Quebec Lung Association created Canada's first respiratory health chair. This $2.5 million chair was set up at Université de Sherbrooke. Despite medical advances, lung disease has been flourishing at an ever increasing rate over the past few years. In Quebec, it is estimated that over 1.4 million people suffer from either emphysema, lung cancer, asthma, sleep apnea, pneumonia, sarcoidosis, chronic bronchitis and even tuberculosis, which is showing signs of recrudescence. The Quebec Lung Association provides a variety of services to meet the population's needs. Whether for problems related to COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), asthma or any other respiratory illness, or for information on the various programs designed to help quit smoking, our toll-free telephone lines are available to the entire Quebec population.

The Music Heals Charitable Foundation supports a wide range of music therapy services to communities across Canada by providing ongoing funding for those agencies that develop and use music therapy. Music Heals is a not-for-profit society incorporated in British Columbia and is registered with Canada Revenue Agency as a charitable foundation. Music therapy is a technique of complementary medicine that uses music prescribed in a skilled manner by trained therapists. Programs are designed to help patients overcome physical, emotional, intellectual, and social challenges. Applications range from improving the well being of geriatric patients in nursing homes to lowering the stress level and pain of women in labor. Music therapy is used in schools, rehabilitation centers, hospitals, hospices, nursing homes, community centers, and even in the home.
When there is no cure, there is still support, care and compassion.....there is hospice. This is one of Philip Aziz Centre's key messages as a Hospice organization to make sure that no one (patient or their caregivers) should have to journey alone with a serious illness. This is why we advocate for, and efficiently deliver, quality, timely hospice care that is a necessary part of our health care system.Expanding upon our 17 years of hospice care, Emily's House , a 10-bed, family centred children's hospice, the first in the GTA, will open in January 2013.This hospice will service children and their families across Ontario who require a third care alternative to a hospital bed or 24/7 home care, which is not always available or can just be too much for the families to deal with. Whether a life is measured in days, weeks, months or even years, children living with a life-limiting diagnosis deserve the oportunity to learn, play, develop and grow....to just be kids.
