Impact Stories
Villalobos Rescue Center Pets in the Hood

Founded by Tia Maria Torres, Villalobos Rescue Center is a 501c3 registered charity focusing on rehabilitation and rescue of the American Pit Bull Terrier dog, with help from the parolees who work and care for the dogs. VRC works ceaselessly to give Pit Bulls another chance in life. Each and EVERY dog gets spayed or neutered, and given any medical treatment necessary, before the search for that perfect home begins. Now located in Louisiana, due to the overwhelming need to help other dogs, VRC has now become an all breed rescue with the main focus still being on Pit Bulls. Now that we are in the South, we have to deal with the heartworm disease. This means that 99% of the dogs we take in, enter our facility with this pre-existing condition. It not only takes three to six months to cure, but costs up to $500 per dog.

Pets in Need

The mission of Pets in Need is to rescue dogs and cats and find them new, loving homes. We accomplish our mission by rescuing cats and dogs from public shelters in the Bay Area and beyond when they are in danger of being euthanized due to space or financial limitations.

Friends In Need

Friends in Need’s mission is to provide a loving and safe home for all of our animal residents with volunteer opportunities to assist in animal care and self-sustaining agriculture. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a Self-Sustaining Sanctuary (SSS), FIN asks for your help in caring for the over 250 animals and 20,000+ plants we work with the community to serve.

Pets In Transition

Founded July 2008. Our all-volunteer organization began by simply transporting animals from local shelters to no-kill rescue groups in Houston and other neighboring towns for placement into loving homes. We focus our time on rescuing animals, getting them ready for adoption, and then transitioning them to a loving home or to a no-kill group that will find them a loving home. Animals that are already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and tested for diseases have a much better chance of being accepted into a rescue group for placement. Pets In Transition provides this for the animals we rescue. Some of the animals we see in the shelters are sick or injured, but otherwise very adoptable. Many adoption groups are unable to take in animals that require extra medical care or recovery time. Pets In Transition takes these animals into our rescue, gets them the medical care they need, and provides a foster home for them while they are healing.

In Sync Exotics

"To provide a caring, safe haven to some of God's most beautiful creatures. We put their needs above all else; the old, the maimed, the unwanted can find sanctuary here."

To reverse tropical rainforest deforestation for planetary health.

Animals In Distress

Animals In Distress is a non-profit, tax deductible sanctuary for animals who have little or no hope elsewhere. Their programs are designed to prevent suffering and to save lives. They believe that there is a special home somewhere for every pet if there is enough time to find it. They keep every animal admitted, providing medical care, behavioral rehabilitation, good food, shelter, and most important of all, love, until a suitable new home can be found. No animal is killed because it is unwanted, too old, or injured.

In Defense of Animals

In Defense of Animals' mission is to end animal exploitation, cruelty, and abuse by protecting and advocating for the rights, welfare, and habitats of animals, as well as to raise their status beyond mere property, commodities, or things.

Feline Friendz In Nebraska

To improve the lives of abandoned and feral cats and eliminate their breeding in the Omaha area through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), educate the public about the plight of stray and feral cats and the need to spay/neuter pets, support feral cat caretakers and gain recognition of the beneficial role they perform, and promote the adoption of long-term, caretaker-based solutions regarding feral cats. We are involved in changing existing legislation to encourage the use of TNR as a means of humanely controlling the feral and abandoned cat population.
