Our mission is to provide grants to Massachusetts institutions performing research related to the prevention and cure of eye-related diseases.MLERFi has helped to establish three major research centers in Boston: the Howe Laboratory at Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary, the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Laboratory at Boston University Medical Center, and the Lions Laboratory for Genetic Research at Schepens Eye Research Institute.MLERFi awards nearly $1 million in grants annually, funded completely by donations to our giving campaigns. Since 1951 we have provided grants totaling over $33 million.
International Eye Foundation is dedicated to helping people see! Since 1961 IEF has taken up the challenge in poor countries around the world, helping to restore sight and prevent blindness. IEF offers strong new strategic directions that focus on making eye clinics financially self sufficient. IEFs achievements include developing eye health services, training ophthalmologists and para-medicals, and fighting vitamin A deficiency, trachoma and river blindness. IEF is now strengthening the management, quality of service, and income generating activities so that eye clinics are less dependent on outside donors and government funds.
Every year in the United States, more than 3,500 infant deaths occur due to accidental suffocation, asphyxia, or undetermined causes during sleep. Since 1998, Cribs for Kids® National Infant Safe Sleep Initiative has been making an impact on the rate of babies dying of sleep-related death in unsafe sleeping environments. The mission of Cribs for Kids® is to prevent infant sleep-related deaths by educating parents and caregivers on the importance of practicing safe sleep for their babies and by providing portable cribs to families who, otherwise, cannot afford a safe place for their babies to sleep.

Parasites Without Borders will establish a series of resources that emphasizes all aspects of parasitic diseases. These resources will be related to the identification, prevention and treatment of these infectious agents. These resources will involve the production of textbooks (initially the 6th edition of Parasitic Diseases). This textbook has been internationally recognized as the seminal medical reference for basic and clinical information summarizing what is currently known regarding the major parasitic infections that infect humans. We will produce on-line comprehensive courses on parasitic diseases as well as other resources to serve to disseminate basic and clinical information dealing with all the aspects of the global problem of parasitic disease.

Mission Rabies is an international NGO headquartered in the UK with offices in the USA, India and Thailand. Despite being eliminated from many countries, rabies still takes a devastating toll on the world’s most marginalized and vulnerable. Existing models of rabies prevention remain inappropriate for implementation in most countries that remain rabies endemic, because they lie at the bottom of the UN HDR rankings. Since 2013, Mission Rabies has been implementing vaccination and education programs where the need is greatest, collecting evidence and sharing lessons to make global elimination a reality. The goal of Mission Rabies is to eliminate dog-mediated human deaths caused by rabies by 2030 through mega vaccination drives and educating communities at risk on the disease.
The mission of the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation (SAAF) is to cultivate a healthy & stigma-free society through transformative action. In 1997, three AIDS service organizations in Tucson (Tucson AIDS Project, PACT for Life, and Shanti Foundation) merged to form SAAF. In 2014, SAAF took over several initiatives from Wingspan, formerly Southern Arizona's LGBTQ community center. In 2015, SAAF celebrated 30 years of providing services and continues to be the only community-based organization in southern Arizona providing case management and ancillary support services for people living with HIV/AIDS and their families; culturally appropriate prevention and education programs to reduce the rate of infection; & LGBTQ community outreach & engagement.
At Dentists on Wheels (DOW) our mission is to reach and treat patients with limited accessible oral healthcare service located in and around Contra Costa County. DOW works to promote health equity in our local community while simultaneously teaching proper oral health care practices.Volunteers, including dentists and assistants, work collectively to help underserved and uninsured individuals become free from dental health issues. DOW is proud to have a team of dedicated individual that help provide low to no cost, high-quality restorative and preventative dental care to uninsured and underserved individuals. At DOW, our ultimate mission is to address and rectify the issue of limited accessible oral healthcare services within our local community.
Since 1988, H.E.A.R., Hearing Education and Awareness For Rockers, mission is dedicated to the prevention of hearing loss and tinnitus. We cater particularly to the population most vulnerable to potential noise induced hearing loss ––young music lovers, musicians, DJs and their audiences and others in the music and entertainment industry––but extend our education, awareness, and advocacy to people from all walks of life. In addition to awareness, education and advocacy work, we provide music-hearing services in San Francisco and a directory of partners for other locales. In everything that we do, we strive to ensure that hearing conservation becomes part of every music education and music lifestyle.
